Rule 10.2
Advice
Also searched as: tips, asking which club, club selection, giving advice
Any comment or action meant to influence which club someone chooses or how they play a stroke. In a competition you may only ask your caddie and your partner for advice.
Public information is not advice: the Rules, distances, and where bunkers, penalty areas or the flagstick are. You may ask anyone about that.
The rule applies during the round to players in the same competition on the course. In a friendly round where no one is playing for a score, you can of course help each other.
