Distance-measuring device

Lasers, GPS watches and apps that show distances are allowed unless a Local Rule prohibits them. Measuring elevation changes during the round is not allowed.

Until 2018, distance-measuring devices were only allowed if a Local Rule permitted them. Since 2019 it is the other way round.

Apart from elevation, devices or apps that do the thinking for you are also not allowed, for example ones that recommend a line of play or a club based on your ball position. Weather information from a weather app, including wind, you may look up.
