Double hit

If you accidentally strike the ball more than once during one stroke, it counts as one stroke only. There is no longer a penalty.

A double hit typically happens on short chips from thick grass or from a bunker. The key word is accidentally: deliberately pushing or scooping the ball instead of striking it cleanly is still not allowed.
