Rule 13.2

Flagstick

Also searched as: flag, pin, flag in or out, putting with the flag in

Before each stroke you decide whether the flagstick stays in, is removed or is attended. If your ball hits the flagstick left in the hole, there is no penalty.

If your ball comes to rest against the flagstick in the hole, it is holed when any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green. If no part is below the surface, it is not holed. If you then remove the flagstick and the ball moves, place it on the lip of the hole without penalty, even if it fell into the hole, and hole out.

If your ball accidentally hits the attended flagstick, the person attending it or the removed flagstick lying on the green, there is no penalty. You play the ball as it lies.

If you chose to have the flagstick removed, no one may deliberately leave it in the way or put it back to stop your ball.
