Golf term
Group
Also searched as: flight, playing partners, fourball group, tee time, playing through
The two to four players who go round together. The Rules of Golf simply call it a group.
In competitions the Committee sets the groups and the starting times. In stroke play another player in your group is usually your marker.
If a group is much slower than the one behind and has open space ahead, it lets the faster group play through. That is not a Rule but good etiquette, and it helps the pace of play.
In German-speaking countries the group is usually called a ‘flight’. In English, a flight more often means a division of a competition by handicap.
