Scramble

Also searched as: Texas scramble, Florida scramble, team game, best ball

A team format for two to four players. Everyone plays, the team picks the best ball, and everyone plays from that spot until someone holes out.

Scramble is popular at corporate and charity days because weaker players can keep up and the round is quick. It does not appear in the Rules of Golf. How many tee shots each player must contribute and how handicaps are applied is set in the terms of the competition.

In a Florida scramble, the player whose ball was chosen sits out the next stroke.

Step by step

  1. 1Everyone tees off. Each player in the team plays their own ball.
  2. 2Pick the best ball. The team chooses the best position.
  3. 3Everyone plays from there. Each player puts their ball at that spot and plays again.
  4. 4Repeat until holed. The team counts one stroke for each round of shots.
