Rules question · Rule 6.3b · Easy

Can I change balls in the middle of a hole?

In the middle of the fairway you no longer like your ball because it has a few scratches. May you simply swap it for another one?

Answer

No, during the hole only when a Rule allows it

You complete a hole with the ball you teed off with. You may only use another ball when a Rule allows it, for example when taking relief or when the ball is cut or cracked. Scratches are not enough. Between two holes, however, you may always change your ball.
