Can I ground my club behind the ball in a bunker?
Your ball lies in a bunker. May you ground your club in the sand behind the ball at address?
Answer
No, that costs two penalty strokes
In a bunker you must not touch the sand right in front of or behind the ball with your club, including at address, in a practice swing or in the backswing. That costs the general penalty. Grounding the club has been allowed since 2019 only in penalty areas.
