Can I test the bunker sand with my hand?
Before playing from a bunker, you touch the sand with your hand to feel how firm it is. What is the ruling?
Answer
Two penalty strokes
In a bunker you must not deliberately touch the sand to test it, whether with your hand, a club or a rake. That is the general penalty. You may, however, dig in your feet for your stance or lean on the sand to keep your balance when stepping in.
