Rules question · Rule 20.1c(3) · Easy

Unsure about a Rule: can I play a second ball?

In stroke play, you are unsure how to proceed under a Rule, and nobody from the Committee is around. What may you do?

Answer

Complete the hole with two balls and let the Committee decide later

In stroke play you may play a second ball in such a case. Before your next stroke you announce which ball you want to count, and you report the situation before returning your scorecard. The Committee then decides which score counts. This is not available in match play.
