Agreed on a wrong ruling in match play: what now?
In a match without a referee, you agree with your opponent how to apply a Rule. Neither of you knows it exactly. After the round, it turns out that your solution was wrong. What is the ruling?
Answer
Your agreement stands, and the result of the hole does not change
In match play, the players may agree how to decide a Rules issue. The outcome stands even if it was wrong. It is different only if you knowingly ignored a Rule, in which case you are disqualified. In stroke play, such an agreement is not binding.
