Stableford: ball not found, then it was in the hole. Does the hole-in-one count?
In Stableford you tee off on a par 3 to a raised putting green. You cannot find your ball and you give up on the hole. Your marker can no longer score a point and picks up their ball, so nobody holes out. You have already teed off on the next hole when the group behind calls out that your ball was in the hole. What is the ruling?
Answer
The hole-in-one counts, and a 1 goes on the scorecard
Your tee shot holed out, even though you did not know it. That completed the hole. Moving on does not change that. As long as you have not returned your scorecard, your marker enters the 1 and you get the points for it.
