Rule 21.1
Stableford
Also searched as: Stableford points, points competition, net points, gross points
A form of stroke play where you score points on each hole instead of counting strokes. A net par earns 2 points. The most points at the end wins.
Each hole is scored against your personal net par, that is the par plus the handicap strokes you receive on that hole:
- Double bogey or worse: 0 points
- Bogey: 1 point
- Par: 2 points
- Birdie: 3 points
- Eagle: 4 points
- Albatross: 5 points
The big advantage: once you cannot score a point on a hole, you pick up and walk to the next tee. A bad hole costs no time and does not ruin the whole round.
Playing exactly to your handicap gives 36 points. It can also be scored gross, without handicap strokes.
