Rules question · Rule 4.1b · Hard

Can I practise with someone else’s putter between holes?

Between two holes you borrow another player’s putter and make a few practice putts with it on the putting green you have just played. What is the ruling?

Answer

No penalty

The ban on sharing clubs only applies to strokes that count. Practice putts and practice swings with someone else’s club are allowed. Between two holes you may also practise putting and chipping on or near the putting green of the hole just completed, unless a Local Rule prohibits it.
