Rules question · Rule 3.2b · Medium

Can I concede a hole before teeing off in match play?

In match play, you have hurt your foot and do not want to play the next hole, a long par 5, at all. May you concede it to your opponent before either of you has teed off?

Answer

Yes, you may concede a hole at any time before it is completed

In match play, you may concede your opponent’s next stroke, a hole or the whole match. A hole may be conceded at any time before it is completed, even before teeing off. What is not allowed is conceding holes to each other to shorten the match.
