Rules question · Rule 3.2a · Medium

What does “4 and 3” mean in match play?

In an 18-hole match, you lead by four holes after the 15th hole. What is the ruling?

Answer

You have won the match, known as “4 and 3”

A match is won as soon as you lead by more holes than remain to be played. With a four-hole lead and three holes left, your opponent can no longer catch up. The result is then called “4 and 3”.
