Rules question · Rule 3.2a · Hard

Match play: when may we agree to halve a hole?

In match play, you and your opponent may agree to treat a hole as tied. From when is that allowed?

Answer

As soon as at least one of you has made a stroke on that hole

A hole is tied when you complete it in the same number of strokes or when you agree to treat it as tied. The agreement is only allowed once at least one of you has made a stroke on the hole. This stops holes from simply being skipped.
