Rules question · Rule 5.7b · Hard

The siren sounds: can I still hole out?

The siren signals an immediate suspension because of a thunderstorm. You are standing over a short putt and hole it anyway. What is the ruling?

Answer

Disqualification, unless the Committee decides it was justified

After an immediate suspension you must not make another stroke until the Committee resumes play. Otherwise you are disqualified, unless the Committee decides the circumstances justified it. In a normal suspension, for example for darkness, you may finish a hole you have started.
