My marker and I applied a Rule wrongly: am I disqualified?
In stroke play, you and your marker are unsure how big the relief area for ground under repair is. You agree on two club-lengths, and you drop almost two club-lengths away. The correct size would have been one. What is the ruling?
Answer
Two penalty strokes for you for playing from a wrong place, no disqualification
Only players who knowingly ignore a Rule are disqualified. That does not apply if you did not know the Rule. But you played from a wrong place and get the general penalty for it. Your marker gets no penalty for giving wrong information.
