Rules question · Rule 19.2 · Easy
What is the penalty for an unplayable ball?
Your ball is under a bush in the general area, and you decide it is unplayable. How many penalty strokes does that cost?
Answer
One
An unplayable ball costs one penalty stroke. You have three options: stroke-and-distance relief, back-on-the-line relief or lateral relief within two club-lengths. Only in a bunker is there an extra option with two penalty strokes.
