When does the three-minute search time start?
Another player got to the spot where your ball should be before you and has been searching for two minutes. Now you arrive and join the search. How much time do you have left?
Answer
Three minutes, the search time only starts when you or your caddie begin to search
A ball is lost if not found in three minutes after you or your caddie begin to search for it. If someone else searches before that, that time does not count. If a ball is found in time, you still have a reasonable time to identify it.
