Unplayable ball in a bunker: can I drop outside it?
Your ball is unplayable in a bunker. May you drop outside the bunker?
Answer
Yes, back on the line, for a total of two penalty strokes
In a bunker you have the usual unplayable ball options for one penalty stroke: stroke and distance, or back-on-the-line or lateral relief, but both in the bunker. In addition, for a total of two penalty strokes, you may take back-on-the-line relief outside the bunker. Lateral relief outside the bunker is not allowed.
