Can I repair a bare patch on the putting green?
There is a bare patch on your line of play where hardly any grass grows. You tread down its uneven edges. What is the ruling?
Answer
Two penalty strokes
Natural surface imperfections such as bare patches, weeds or uneven growth do not count as damage. Nor do aeration holes or the effects of rain. If you tread them down and so improve your line of play, you get the general penalty, two penalty strokes in stroke play.
