Caddie standing behind me on my line: how do I avoid the penalty?

As you begin taking your stance, you notice your caddie standing right behind you on your line of play. Can you still avoid a penalty?

Answer

Yes, if you back away and do not begin again until the caddie has moved

Once you begin taking your stance, your caddie must not deliberately stand behind you on your line. If you back away from your stance and do not begin again until the caddie has moved, there is no penalty. The caddie simply moving away is not enough.
