Rules question · Rule 10.2b · Medium

Can my caddie hold an umbrella over me during the stroke?

It is raining heavily. Your caddie holds an umbrella over you while you make your stroke. What is the ruling?

Answer

Two penalty strokes

While you make a stroke, nobody may protect you from rain, sunlight or wind, not even your caddie. You may protect yourself, for example with rain clothing or an umbrella you hold yourself. Your caddie may hold the umbrella over you until just before the stroke.
