Rules question · Rule 3.3b · Medium

Marker forgot to certify my scorecard: what happens?

After the round you return your scorecard. Your marker forgot to sign it. What is the ruling, unless a Local Rule says otherwise?

Answer

You are disqualified

You must make sure your marker certifies the scorecard before you return it. If the certification is missing, you are disqualified. There is no penalty only if it was beyond your control, for example because the marker went home with your scorecard. By Local Rule the Committee can reduce the penalty to two penalty strokes.
