Rules question · Rule 14.1a · Easy

Can I mark my ball with a leaf?

You have no ball-marker with you and mark the spot of your ball on the putting green with a leaf. Is that allowed?

Answer

No, a ball-marker must be an artificial object, such as a coin or a tee

Only an artificial object counts as a ball-marker, for example a tee, a coin or a small piece of equipment. A leaf or a stone is a natural object and does not count. If you lift the ball after marking it this way, you have not marked it properly, which is one penalty stroke.
