Can I play a provisional ball if my ball is in a pond?
You clearly saw your ball splash into a pond in a penalty area. May you play a provisional ball?
Answer
No
If it is known or virtually certain that the ball is in a penalty area, a provisional ball is not allowed. The relief options of Rule 17 apply instead.
