When can I play a provisional ball?
When may you play a provisional ball?
Answer
When your ball might be lost outside a penalty area or out of bounds
A provisional ball saves time when your ball might be lost or out of bounds. You then do not have to walk back. It is not allowed for a ball that might only be unplayable or is known to be in a penalty area.
