Rules question · Rule 13.2b · Medium

Putt hits the attended flagstick: is there a penalty?

Another player attends the flagstick for you but fails to remove it in time. Your putt hits the flagstick. What is the ruling?

Answer

No penalty, play the ball as it lies

If your ball accidentally hits the attended flagstick or the person attending it, there is no penalty. You play the ball from where it comes to rest. It is different only if someone deliberately stops or deflects the ball.
