Stepped on my own ball: when is there no penalty?
You accidentally step on your own ball and move it. In which case is there no penalty?
Answer
When you were searching for it in long grass because you could not see it
If you accidentally move your ball while searching for it, there is no penalty. But if it lies in plain view and you step on it while walking to it, you were not searching: that costs one penalty stroke. In both cases you replace the ball. On the putting green, accidentally moving your ball is also without penalty.
