Can another player replace my ball for me?
You marked your ball on the putting green and lifted it yourself. Another player kindly replaces it for you, and you putt. What is the ruling?
Answer
One penalty stroke
Only you or the person who lifted or moved the ball may replace it. If you lifted it yourself, another player must not put it back for you. If you play a ball replaced like that, you get one penalty stroke.
