Rules question · Rule 10.1b · Medium

Can I anchor a long putter against my body?

You putt with a long putter and press the top of the grip firmly against your stomach during the stroke. What is the ruling?

Answer

Two penalty strokes because you are anchoring the club

Since 2016 you must not anchor the club against your body during a stroke, either directly or by holding a forearm against your body. Long putters themselves are allowed. If the grip merely touches your clothing, there is no breach.
