Can I ground my club behind the ball on the fairway?
Your ball lies on the fairway. In addressing it, may you ground your club right behind the ball?
Answer
Yes, you may ground it lightly, but not press it on the ground
In the general area you may ground the club lightly right in front of or right behind the ball, so that only its own weight rests on the ground. You must not press it on the ground. A bunker is different: there you must not touch the sand right in front of or right behind the ball.
