Rules question · Rule 14.2d · Hard
Another player plays my ball and the lie is destroyed: where do I place it?
Your ball is sitting nicely on a tuft of grass in the rough. Another player plays it by mistake as a wrong ball, and the tuft is gone. What do you do?
Answer
Place a ball on the nearest spot with the most similar lie, within one club-length
If another player plays your ball, you must place a ball on the original spot. If the lie there has been altered, you place it on the nearest spot with the most similar lie: within one club-length, not nearer the hole and in the same area of the course. The other player gets two penalty strokes.
