Rules question · Rule 14.2e · Hard

Ball will not stay on its spot when replaced: what do I do?

You have to replace your ball on a steep slope in the rough. It rolls away, and does so again on the second try. What do you do?

Answer

Place it on the nearest spot where it stays at rest, not nearer the hole

If the ball does not stay on its spot after two tries, you place it on the nearest spot where it will stay at rest. That spot must not be nearer the hole and must be in the same area of the course. You must not press it into the ground; if you do, you play from a wrong place.
