Deliberately stopped my dropped ball: is there a penalty?
Your dropped ball has already rolled two metres out of the relief area and is heading for a pond. You stop it with your foot. What is the ruling?
Answer
No penalty, it counts as one of the two drops
Deliberately stopping a dropped ball normally means the general penalty. But if it has no reasonable chance of coming to rest in the relief area, there is no penalty. The drop then counts as if the ball had come to rest outside, and you drop a second time.
