Dropped in the wrong place but not played yet: what do I do?
After dropping, you realise you measured your relief area wrongly and the ball is in a wrong place. You have not played it yet. What is the ruling?

Lift it without penalty and drop correctly
You may correct a mistake in dropping, placing or replacing without penalty as long as you have not played the ball. Only if you make a stroke from the wrong place do you get the general penalty, two penalty strokes in stroke play.
