Can I roll a ball on the putting green to test it?
Before you have holed out on a hole, you roll a ball across the putting green to check its speed. What is the ruling in stroke play?
Answer
Two penalty strokes
While playing a hole you must not test the putting green by rubbing the surface or rolling a ball. That costs the general penalty. Between two holes it is allowed on the putting green of the hole just completed.
