Can I warm up my golf ball?
On a cold day, between two holes, you warm your ball with a hand warmer in your pocket so that it flies further. Then you tee off with it. What is the ruling?
Answer
Disqualification
You must not play a ball whose performance characteristics you have deliberately altered, such as by heating it, scuffing it or applying a substance. If you make a stroke at it anyway, you are disqualified. Cleaning the ball is of course allowed.
