Rule 24: Team competitions

Official title: Team Competitions

In team competitions the results of several players or sides are combined. Rules 1 to 23 apply, what is new is mainly who may give advice to whom.

24.1 Overview

A team is made up of individuals or sides. The team competition can run alongside another competition, such as individual stroke play.

24.2 Terms of the Competition

The Committee sets how the competition is played and how the team score is worked out, for example how many scores count per team.

24.3 Captain

Each team may name a captain, who selects the players and decides who partners whom. The captain may also play.

24.4 Advice

By Local Rule the Committee can allow each team an advice giver whom the players may ask. If the advice giver is also playing, they must not give advice during their own round. Among themselves only partners may give each other advice, unless a Local Rule allows more.
