Ball drops in when I remove the flagstick: is it holed?

Your ball rests against the flagstick, with no part below the surface. You remove the flagstick and the ball drops into the hole. What is the ruling?

Answer

Not holed: place it on the lip without penalty and hole out

The ball would only have been holed if part of it had already been below the surface while resting against the flagstick. If it only drops in when the flagstick is removed, you place it on the lip without penalty and hole out.
